ABOUT HUGH
Hugh, a storyteller and filmmaker, traces his roots back to China. At 14, he embarked on an exciting journey when his family moved to Canada. Hugh's creative works have been showcased at the Vancouver International Youth Film Festival, the Vancouver Chinese Film Festival, YEG’s Underground Film Festival, and film retrospective screenings at the Cineworks Independent Filmmaker Society. His latest 16mm analogue film, "Bound to No One," made a mark by winning the Leo Award 2024 Best Student Production and being selected for the 27th Vancouver Asian Film Festival. He competed in the 5th Abbotsford 48-hour Film Competition and won the Best Film with "The Old Man and the Dog." His cinematic work reflects a passion for exploring multicultural themes and developing a unique visual language that captivates audiences with striking aesthetics and a humanistic touch.
Currently, Hugh works in the film industry as a PA within the Director Guild of Canada logbook program.
